Today's Food

My parents always visit for 1.5 hours on a Thursday afternoon poliphilo makes my father a drink of coffee and then leaves the room - he fell out with my mother some six or seven years ao and uses it as an excuse not to interact with them. They don't seem to mind. After all when my brother visits them - with Ruth - he just oes to sleep in the chair. When he goes on his own it's to do a job and he just gets on with it.

It's sad in a way to see these 2 people, who made my life such a misery, are just little old people. I've never really fallen out with them - occasional days as families do. Mum and I once didn't speak for a fortnight - but it made my father ill (that's his excuse for everything) so I spoke to her again. They are still dogmatic and narrow minded and think I should do as they say but my mother is all dithery and my father so weepy. In between their telling me to watch this on tv, eat that etc., etc., they ask me what they should do about things. Sad...sad...sad.

poliphilo seems to be a lot better today, just physically weak, it doesn't take much to knock either of us for six.

Breakfast: 20 grams protein powder, 1 cup strawberries.

Snack 1 oz cheese, 1/4 packet of soy nuts.

Lunch: 2 soy sausage links, packaged cauliflower cheese, kiwi fruit

Evening: 1 cup cottage cheese, 1 mandarin orange

Snack: 2 blackpepper oatcakes, 20 grams smoked salmon

Drinks: 2 liters of iced water, 1/2 pint slimline tonic with lime, 2 large 3 small herbal teas

I contacted the nutritionalist at the Zone diet as I seem to be needing more protein to my carbs rather than equal amounts. I explained about the diabetes and taking morphine and she said not to worry, it's quite normal. So I am to add extra protein between meals if I need to.

This is just a rough run through of my week last week. If I'd really thought about it — and had the science been available — I would never have…
