Happy New Year to one and all.  I hope it's a good one for all of us.

For the first time in four years I'm making a resolution (not New Year's because I started it last Tuesday (28th)), and it's the same one it was then - to lose weight.  Last time I lost 4 stone.  A stone and a half has crept back on over the last year.  This, apparently, was because I followed a high carb, low fat, diet which I've 'sort of' kept on with over the time, and after a while your body just starts turning the carbs to fat and it goes back on.

So, this time, I'm working on the 'Zone' diet.  It's as easy as 1-2-3 (they reckon).  Each mean 1 x 10g fat, 2 x 10g protein & 3 x 10g low density carbs for each meal.  Did you know that 20g protein is the size and thickness of the palm of your hand?  Apparently!

This morning's breakfast was:

1 cup each of strawberries and blueberries,  20 grams of protein powder, 4 ice cubes and 3 macademia nuts - which I couldn't get so I had 3 unsalted cashews. - all blended together.

It was odd.  I ate the nuts on the side, but, whilst the drink was okay, quite fluffy really, it left me feeling bloated - and hungry.  Though I seem to be okay now.

As with all diets it reckons I'll never feel hungry - it lies.  I can eat a huge meal and feel hungry after it.  If it wasn't for my amazing appetite and hunger levels, I wouldn't need to diet in the first place.

I will do my best to stick to it, so excuse me if I post food lists sometimes.  Also if anyone has suggestions, menus etc., they'll be gratefully received.
